8. Common items to be discuss with WTC
Continuation of the preparation for the Code of Points 2013-2016
-Changes in the difficulty table
-Turns, reevaluate method of determination
-Incremental changes of execution table deductions
-Difficulty vs. execution
9. Common Meeting with WTC
There was discussion and explanation regarding the different proposals for final score calculation
(proposals from Hardy Fink and Adrian Stoica). Both proposals stressed greater emphasis on
execution.
In general, WTC does not want to change the method of scoring. Both TC's believe there is a
solution to the current trend that emphasizes difficulty. Both TC's agree that it is not in the best
interest of the sport for a gymnast to fall and still receive an apparatus medal in a competition, but
this has happened in the past.
The MTC requested a discussion on the devaluation principle for elements. Both TC's agree that
encouragement of greater difficulty can be given less emphasis by the application of strict
deductions. The MTC also commented that they do not want difficulties higher than a G value. It
was proposed that both TC's work within their table of elements and check the groups of elements
and their values.
Connection Value
The WTC would like to use up to 0.30 for connection bonus. Connection also would solve some of
their artistry problems for continuity. The MTC proposed eliminating connection bonus, except for
horizontal bar. The MTC does not want to encourage difficulty by promoting connection bonus. The
MTC would consider using extra value for composition, instead of connection bonus.
Landing faults
Both TC's agreed to consider deletion of the deduction of 0.5 for deep squat. The MTC will
consider whether to eliminate the deduction of -0.5 for support, and both TC's will consider using
the touch/brush deduction of -0.3.
Number of elements
WTC and MTC propose to remain with the same required number of elements for Difficulty (8 for
WAG and 10 for MAG).
Line deductions
Although both TC's agreed in ISR (December 2010) to use only 0.1 and 0.3 for line deductions,
during the symposium many WAG coaches expressed that they want to keep the 0.5 deduction.
The MTC wants to stay with 0.1/0.3 only.
Vaults
-
Extra runs on Vault (balks)- No common decision was confirmed whether to permit a
second/extra approach.
-
Deduction for not showing the number- Both TC's agreed to taking no deduction for not
showing the number or showing a different number.
-
Specific Deductions on Vault (CIII)- It was proposed that a deduction of 2.00 will be applied
if a gymnast performs two vaults from same group or with same second flight phase.
-
MTC proposed that if a gymnast performs 2 vaults, that they do not show the score of 1
st
vault until the end of 2
nd
vault.
10. Elements & Value Interpretations
Pommel Horse- DSA to handstand, 3/3 travel, 360° turning, and return to flair= F value (EG IV)
Note: 360° of turning in the handstand leads to an upgrade in value when returning to flairs or
circles from a handstand (with or without traveling), Busnari name now given to this element
(element shown in MTC NL 25)
