5. Approval of the Agenda
André Gueisbuhler proposed to modify the agenda, so that item #12, "Allocation of Events", could
be discussed Sunday morning at 09:00 a.m.
The Secretary General announced that the EC was submitting late proposals for the ACRO
Technical Regulations. He pointed out that the Code of Discipline had been mailed to the members
belatedly. In addition, GER and DEN have submitted late bids for organizing respectively the RG
and TRA World Championships in 2015. JPN has expressed the wish to make a presentation on
the 2011 World Championships that will take place
in October in Tokyo
.
The Secretary General
asked the Council to approve the late requests. In accordance with article 11.12.1, a two-thirds
majority is required.
Decision: The Council unanimously approved all above-mentioned requests. The agenda
was therefore accepted together with the requested changes.
6. Approval of the Minutes of the May 2010 Council Meeting in Chiba (JPN)
Bruno Grandi pointed out that these minutes were published on the intranet site and in the FIG
Bulleting # 216. No comments were received within the time limit set to September 30, 2010.
Decision: Unanimous approval of the minutes
7. Presentation of the President's Report
Bruno Grandi remarked that the Executive Committee is making every effort to develop more
reliable and consistent regulations. We must improve things by taking our lived experiences into
consideration.
The President remarked that the Executive Committee and especially the Marketing Commission
are looking for a way to make our sport more attractive to the public and the media. Presently
gymnastics is too difficult to understand and competition with other sports is fierce. We must be
more creative.
«World Gym for Life Challenge» was conceived to meet the expectations of our gymnasts. This
new competition is a chance for us to offer a GfA event every two years, in rotation with the "World
Gymnaestrada". Regrettably not everybody is aware of the cultural quality of GfA. The IOC has
endorsed the merits of "Sport for All".
Bruno Grandi informed that a new World Cup format has been developed to offer a product that
would meet current expectations. For this purpose, we drew our inspiration from what is done in
other sports. Our ways of thinking must change. This competition makes it possible for us to offer
an excellent alternative to our World Championships. It is essential that our athletes and National
Federations adhere to this new concept.
The President pointed out that reference judges were introduced to ensure better judging and
consequently improve the conduct of our competitions. The IOC attaches great importance to
universality. To this effect, educational programs have been developed; those devoted to ART and
TRA are basically finished, but we have somewhat fallen behind in RG.
