President Grandi addressed his personal greetings to Yuri Titov, FIG Honorary President, and
declared the meeting officially open.
André Gueisbuhler greeted the assembly and provided information on the schedule of the next two
days. He thanked the AAI Company for generously providing snacks and beverages for the break
times. As done customarily, Council members are seated in alphabetical order.
The Secretary General announced that there was no electronic system this year. Therefore voting
will be by show of hands or by using paper ballots. We are currently in discussions to find a
competent supplier for the next FIG Congress.
2. Presentation of the Council Members
The Secretary General excused the following members who were unable to attend the meeting:
Vasily Titov, Mohamed Yamani, Snezana Lakicevic Stojacic, Eleni Michopoulou, Mohamed
Rached Gharbi, William Garcia Lopez, and Saif Abouedel. Robert Colarossi was momentarily
absent due to unforeseen circumstances but will join the meeting as soon as possible.
André Gueisbuhler indicated that in compliance with the Statutes, the Council has 44 members. He
announced that last February the Executive Committee had approved Gao Jian's resignation,
who had resigned for personal reasons. Gao Jian is no longer a member of the FIG Executive
Committee. Since the elections will take place next year, the Executive Committee is
recommending to the Council not to replace this person. There was no opposition to this proposal.

The Secretary General announced that the Executive Committee was proposing the following
