President Grandi proposed voting. 36 ballots were distributed, simple majority requiring therefore
19 votes.
Decision: 36 valid ballots were received back. Paris obtained 10 votes, Glasgow 14, and
Orlando 12.
The Secretary General proposed to move to a second-round voting to choose between Glasgow
and Orlando.
Before announcing the results, President Grandi officially thanked all three candidates. He was
pleased to have received three high-quality applications; he hoped that the losers will show fair
play.
Decision: 36 valid ballots were received back. Glasgow obtained 23 votes and Orlando 13.
The 2015 ART World Championships will take place in Glasgow (GBR).
Alan Sommerville thanked the Council for its trust and assured everyone that everything would be
done to make these ART World Championships an outstanding event.
Bruno Grandi remarked that it would be a good thing if Federations hosting World Championships
qualifying for the Olympic Games would also organize AER or ACRO World Championships, for
which it is difficult to find organizers. We should think about it in the future; he will prepare a
proposal in due course.
André Gueisbuhler informed that one single candidature was received for the organization of the
2015 RG World Championships; it came from Stuttgart (GER).
The GER President Rainer Brechtken and Wolfgang Willam introduced the Stuttgart bid.
Decision: The Council tacitly approved the GER proposal.
André Gueisbuhler announced that one single candidature coming from the city of Odense (DEN)
was received for the organization of the 2015 TRA World Championships.
The DEN President Flemming Knudsen and his colleague Erik Juul Mogensen presented the
Odense bid.
Decision: The Council tacitly approved the DEN proposal.
The President invited the JPN Federation to make a presentation on the 2011 ART World
Championships scheduled to take place in October in Tokyo. He underscored that the allocation of
this event, which was decided in May 2007, was not called into question. This presentation is only
for information; there will be no vote.
President Futagi and his delegation informed on the situation in Japan following the terrible natural
disaster that had struck the country a few weeks ago and the ensuing nuclear threat. President
Futagi assured that there is no risk to be in Tokyo and confirmed that everything will be done to
present exceptional World Championships. Should the situation deteriorate, an alternative will be
proposed. Under no circumstances would he want to expose the FIG family to danger.
In turn, the following people spoke to confirm that there is no danger for the ART World
Championships to be held in October 2011 in Tokyo: Hiroshi Inomata, Consul of Japan in San
Francisco, Naoyoshi Yamada of the Japanese Tourist Agency, Satoshi Ashidate of the Ministry of
